Who We Are
Welcome to Memorial Presbyterian Church, a vibrant and diverse community in the heart of the city, where people from all walks of life come together to worship, grow in faith, and support one another on their spiritual journeys.
About Us
-
Some of us are very involved with the life of the church. Some are cautiously curious. Some are skeptical. Most of us weren't raised Presbyterian — a lot of us weren't even raised Christian. We’re students, families, business professionals, university faculty, young creatives and night-shift workers. Whoever you are, you’re free to question, to watch, to care and be cared for. It’s about the Welcome of Jesus.
-
Jesus is a friend to damaged people like us. He loves the weak. He loves the marginalized. And he loves people who have been burned by the church. When you find a church of flawed people doing community together with honesty, gentleness and compassion, that’s the church Jesus died to create.
It’s all grace. That’s the gospel. That’s the good news.
We share the faith expressed in the historic creeds of the church including the Apostles Creed, the Nicene Creed and the Westminster Confession of Faith because these reinforce the story of grace.
-
Our vision is to be a community of real people who have experienced the Welcome of Jesus, who are learning to live out that Welcome in community, and who are unleashing the Welcome of Jesus in our city.
When we look at the central corridor of St. Louis — from the Arch through the Central West End to Clayton and University City, we see over a hundred thousand people living, working, playing, and longing for something more. Whether it’s through practical teaching that engages all of life with the story of Jesus, or through collecting food for the food pantry, fixing meals for the women’s shelter or welcoming into community someone who has never had a positive experience of church, we long to see the Welcome of Jesus unleashed in word and deed.

Are you new to Memorial? Or maybe you've been coming for a while but are interested in learning a little more about who we are, what we believe, and what membership means. If so, please join us for our next More About Memorial class. Attending doesn’t commit you to anything, but if your desire is to find a church community, this class can help you know how to do that at Memorial. And if you’re thinking about becoming a member someday, this class is a main part of that process.
This class is held quarterly on a Friday evening and Saturday morning with interactive teaching and discussion time. Click here to learn more.
